If you’re over the age of 40 and you have the opportunity to buy your teenager the same model of cell phone as you, do it. Within a week, he or she will know more about its quirks and abilities than you’ll ever want to look up on your own. Just don’t get them one that’s the same colour as yours… you’ll not want to know what they’re talking to their friends about by text any more than you’ll want them seeing the pictures you take, if you know what I mean. 😉
Since my fiction blog is coming up to a year old, I’ve decided to completely revamp it – new theme, new colours, new name even. When I do, I’ll take it offline, so if you can’t find it this weekend, you’ll know why. And if you can’t find it ever, it’s because I’ve changed the name. (Makes note to self to schedule a grand re-opening.)
We had spring for about 10 minutes this morning! It’s snowing now.
Do you ever get a comment on an old post and have to go back to read it to see what you said? Does that mean your memory is bad, or that you post too much? Just wondering.
OH oh oh! I found the CD I lost! It was in a pile of papers in my kitchen. I found it when I was looking for something else. 😀 To celebrate, everyone who told me I’d find it, gets one of the oatmeal cookies I found in the same pile.
So I have the weekend off. The kids are going with their dad tomorrow night and coming back Sunday after dinner. I have a freebie at the cinema… and I have Netflix. Any suggestions as to what movie I should watch? Anyone want to come with? Popcorn’s on me. 😀

The good news is, if you change your URL through WP (not self-host, but just buy a domain), you won’t lose any followers. So don’t worry about that. 🙂
The bit about the phone made me giggle. My boss is buying two new computers for work, and he decided to buy the same model, so I can teach him how to use it, haha.

That’s good to know! I wondered about losing my followers… this site is paid for, but I still have the “.wordpress” in the URL, partially because I was afraid to change it.
I actually did the same thing when my mother was shopping for remote phones for her landline. I was always having to try to figure out what might be the problem she was having with her phones, over the phone. Having the same one meant I didn’t have to be there to fix or adjust them myself. 😛
Thanks for the comment 😀

Yeah, I have a paid site through .com too. 🙂 You can access my site through two URLs now (alex-hurst.com & memoirsofhereafter.wordpress.com), and either will work for feed burners, etc. So you won’t lose anyone. ^_^
PS- No problem!

How do you do that? … I had to try it twice because I didn’t believe how the link redirected the first time. Is there something in particular I can search to learn? I don’t want to take up your time with an explanation.

It’s no problem. Buy a domain, either through WP or any other place. WP is easiest, though. I believe if you buy the domain through WP, you keep both links automatically, because they still use your WP.com domain for their ‘follow’ algorithm. You can check and see the details in ‘Store’ on your dashboard. If you’re still not sure, then I can check it out for you later. I’m just on my phone right now. 🙂

That’s okay. I had a look and you’re right – WP automatically links both ways. Thanks very much for the insight 😀

In my case I use domain mapping, which is about $14 a year in WP, because I bought my domain off of blue host.

Have fun – enjoy and by the way did you happen to see my keys in the same pile as your CD and cookies? Not likely I know but I felt I should ask – one never knows – I am quite sure keys move through different dimensions at will just to annoy us.

I’m happy to read, that you found your CD. Enjoy it in the weekend when no one will disturb you 😀
I think, you make a great titel, if you choose something close to this blog name, as you use here. Then people will find it more easy to remember the author.
Enjoy your free weekend. Would like to join you, but ‘I’m not able because of the distance. Enjoy my cookie too 😀

It’s not that you have a bad memory, per se. It’s believed that when you write something down or make a file of something, your brain makes it less of a priority to remember since it’s documented elsewhere. So your brain remembers you wrote it, but not the contents of the post itself.

The totally unsuitable is what our peers would think but not say. I love a good battle and a little Greek History / Myth thrown in what more could we ask. BTW you may have to remind me as my memory is shot…… You are right about the phone I have two programmers in the family one ‘front end’ and one ‘ back end’ no1 and ño3 son . put them together and they may as well be talking Martian but singularly they are extremely helpful . 😉 have a great weekend off you deserve it. xxxx
