The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 31/2020

Oh look! It’s Friday again! And I’m here with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday post! My excuse for being late today: had to go to Internet school with Alex. As usual, he’s scared of people who are dressed up. Anyway, here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “trick.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley! https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

One-Liner Wednesday

What day is it, anyway?

That is the post.

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

#SoCS – Medicine

Ain’t no medicine taking away the pain tonight. Strangely, most of the pain is in my arm rather than my frozen shoulder at the moment. I dunno.

I went to the hospital tonight for my weird-assed 9pm on a Saturday appointment to get an x-ray. I had to go through the emergency department to get there. There was one person in the waiting room. At 9pm on a Saturday, in the only hospital in a city of 50,000 people. Apparently that person and me were the only ones not having fun tonight.

The good news is I got in and out of there so fast, I didn’t have to pay for parking. My car was in the lot for 18 minutes–2 minutes short of having to pay $4. Woohoo!

Man, I know how to live it up.

So I’m going to keep this short because my arm is killing me.

Have a good one, my friends.

One-Liner Wednesday – Pro tip for the grocery store

First thing to do after you sanitize your hands: go straight to the produce bags and open as many of those suckers as you need while your fingers are still damp.

#SoCS – Nausea

Okay, so I managed to get “nausea” down a couple of years ago. But “nauseus”? “Nauseas”? “Nausious”?

Every. Single. Time. I have to look it up.

It’s like I don’t like being “nauseous” or something. HEY! I got it!

I did feel a little sick today, actually. It was the five cups of coffee, I think. My usual three this morning and another two this afternoon to keep me awake.

Which I don’t have any problem doing when I lay down because of this damned frozen shoulder. I go to bed in pain, I wake up at 3am in agony. I don’t remember the other one (I had a frozen shoulder in 2016) popping out of the joint, but this one does it regularly. And MAN, does it hurt.

I’m thinking about trying to sleep sitting up tonight. Not sure it will help, though, because I think it’s just not moving it that’s the problem. Or it’s moving it into a weird position in my sleep.

Anyhoo, I’m not a happy camper.

I have an x-ray booked for next Saturday, though, and a cortisone shot on November 4th. That fixed the last one. Hopefully it’ll fix this one, too.

One-Liner Wednesday – The Thing Nobody Talks About

Let’s talk about the thing nobody talks about.

When you look down to pack your groceries at the store, do you open your mouth so wide you almost unhinge your jaw in order to keep your mask out of your eyes?

Just me?

#SoCS – Medium

Seems to me that hanging around the middle — of anything — in 2020 is a bad idea.

Crowds? Nope.

Unsure if you’re for ’em or against ’em? Nuh uh. Gotta decide.

No matter what it is, you don’t want to be in the middle of it.

Hell, how many of us can say we didn’t at one point, go from a medium to a large during this pandemic?

One way or another, but not in the middle.
