I have some exciting news!

Both The Magician’s Soul and my series “The Great Dagmaru” are up for awards!

The reviewers at the Paranormal Romance Guild have nominated my book and my series for the 2021 Reviewers Choice Awards.

Here’s their review for The Magician’s Soul:

This is the third and final book in this series and should definitely be read in order. Magic, succubus, incubus, sex, suspense, surprises, secrets and much more so all I can say is WOW

If you have already read book one and two then you know most of the characters, like I said if you haven’t begun this series then stop reading this review and pick up book one The Magician’s Curse and begin the journey into the life of Stephen Dagmaru and all the people that affect his life for good or bad.

Stephen and Herman have returned home to plan for their wedding but her nightmares and her introduction to her father’s alter ego, Mona Lisa may put a damper on the happy occasion. Add in the fact that Herman’s cousin Rudy has arrived with the intention of teaching Herman everything she needs to know about…

I can’t give you the rest of the review without giving you spoilers for Book 2, The Magician’s Blood. If you have read it, check out the rest of the review by Linda Tonis at the link above!

Please vote!

But before you do that, I’d really appreciate it if you’d vote for my books. All you have to do is be logged in to your Google account and click on the buttons below the covers of my books. There are two–one for the book, and one for the series (same cover). You don’t need to choose in every category. The submit button is at the bottom of the form. Here’s the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScvn1eQbB2t-8PftIfh8ej9CXppQfDq5t0kIhvdLT82B7VAxA/viewform

Thank you so much!!! 😀

P.S. If you haven’t started reading the series or if you’ve started it and you’re enjoying it, you can get the free prequel, The Magician’s Sire, by signing up here. If you don’t want to receive emails from me, just unsubscribe as soon as you’ve got your book. No harm, no foul. 🙂

#SoCS – Turning the page

I think what I miss most when I’m reading an ebook is the act of physically turning the paper page. There’s a certain anticipation that comes with the extra second it takes, compared to swiping a screen to get to the next screen’s-worth of text.

Is it just me?

And then there’s the fact that a paper page isn’t backlit. Much more restful for the eyes. My eyes have been bugging me all day.

I told my son this morning that getting too much sleep sucks for me now that I’m not used to it. It’s like drinking too much–both sleeping and drinking are lovely at the time, but I inadvertently wake up with a headache. Mine has been kind of in the background all day (because I slept 8 hours, not because I was drinking), and it’s bugging my eyes.

Wouldn’t it be nice if when we typed, the words could show up on a paper page instead? Yeah, I know. That’s been invented and it’s called a typewriter, but what if those words on the page could go out instantaneously to the world like it does on the screen?

What if I could type a page of text and hit the return button and you could read it?

Without waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

Hmm.

Somebody invent that, would you?

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Feb. 5, 2022

It’s Friday! And I’m here with your regular Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. It feels like ages since we’ve had just a plain ol’ SoCS prompt with no JusJoJan and no special Christmas thing, doesn’t it? Here’s your plain ol’ prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “page.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley! https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

What Day Is It Anyway – Thursday, February 3rd, 2022

Conversations I’ve had with the animals in this house in the last 24 hours.

To the cat: “I’m done with your tomfoolery!”

To male, neutered dog after I had an argument with Alex: “Don’t ever have kids.”

I may have upset him with that suggestion.

Do you talk to your pets?

Do you know what day it is?

One-Liner Wednesday – It’s Wednesday!

Up until two minutes ago, I’ve been totally convinced that today is Tuesday.

I think I need to start doing the What Day Is It Anyway posts again. *eyeroll*

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

Just Jot it January 2022 – We did it!

Woohoo! The 9th annual Just Jot it January is in the bag!

We’ve had a snowy, indoors kind of January this year, but I did manage to jot something every day this month. I’m so glad I went back to the regular format for JusJoJan this year. And we had some really amazing prompts! Thanks to all who suggested them. 😀

How did you do? Did you post every day in January? Did you at least jot something somewhere? Let me know in the comments, or write your own “I did it! #JusJoJan22 Edition” post and link it back here.

Congrats to everyone who joined in! Here’s your annual participant badge.
