The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Feb. 26, 2022

Friday’s here and so am I with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Another stormy one today. I’m so ready for spring! Here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rest.” Use it any way you like. Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our beautiful SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley! https://www.quaintrevival.com/

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

One-Liner Wednesday – Numbers

As you probably know, yesterday was 22/02/2022—2uesday—but a cool thing happened yesterday to me at the grocery store. My order came to exactly $99.99. It was a day for numbers!

(Photo: Grocery store receipt for $99.99.)

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

#SoCS – A fortune

Okay, this is the last time you’re going to hear about this from me–unless I win! Please, if you haven’t already, go and vote for my books in the contest for the Paranormal Romance Guild Reviewers Choice Award. The Magician’s Soul has been nominated in the category ROMANCE/FANTASY/PARANORMAL/SUSPENSE/TIME TRAVEL/HISTORICAL/MAGICAL/WESTERN/NATIVE AMERICAN/GOTHIC

and the series, The Great Dagmaru, is in the category just below it.

I have a fortune.

Not in money, but in the love of my family.

I know I’m fortunate that despite their ages, all three of my sons still live in my house. Yes, two of them need 24/7 support, but I can’t see myself being near as content as I am if they were living elsewhere. And my eldest who supports me when I need it … I know he’s going to move away eventually, but for now I’m grateful.

Would I be better off with money instead of what I have?

No.

I don’t have many things. My furniture needs to be replaced, and my house needs redecorating.

But who needs stuff when you’ve got love?

Friday’s back and so am I with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. I don’t know why, but I’m having a bad case of the munchies as I write this. And raw baby carrots just aren’t cutting it. Anyway, here’s your prompt:

A Belated #JusJoJan the 18th – Cycle

As promised, I’m catching up on the #JusJoJan posts. The prompt for this post was brought to you by Just Jot it January in February and JoAnna! Check out JoAnna’s latest blog post here!

***

It was around this time last year when I bought a treadmill. The only place to put it was the living room, which is handy, I suppose. I can use it and keep an eye on Alex at the same time. And when he uses it, he can still watch TV. But the treadmill is very heavy and can’t be moved much, and it takes up a lot of room. So much so, that I often wish I’d bought a stationary bike instead. However as much as I like to cycle, I like walking more.

It’s a conundrum.

I used to love cycling when I was a teenager. I’d spend hours riding my ten-speed around town. I probably haven’t been on a bike in close to forty years.

But they say once you learn, you never forget.

Maybe one day I’ll put that theory to the test.

What Day Is It Anyway? Tuesday, February 8th, 2022

I’m writing this WDIIA post in hopes I’ll remember it’s Tuesday and therefore, tomorrow is Wednesday and I have to write a One-Liner Wednesday post before I go to bed tonight.

I could be writing and scheduling that post now, I guess…

But then where would I be? Probably confused again.

Let’s face it: it doesn’t take much.

Oh, hey! Did you vote for my book and my series yet? I’d really appreciate it if you would. 😀 I stand to win the Paranormal Romance Guild’s Reviewers Choice Award Here’s the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScvn1eQbB2t-8PftIfh8ej9CXppQfDq5t0kIhvdLT82B7VAxA/viewform Thank you! *throws you cookies*

I was supposed to have taken Alex to a dentist appointment today in Ottawa, but I postponed it to March. First, because the clinic is in a hospital and I don’t want to go into a hospital right now unless I can’t help it, and second because I don’t want to have to stop anywhere on the way there and the way back. The drive is three hours one way. That’s if there aren’t any convoys slowing things down.

And don’t get me started on the convoys.

I used to work in the area they’re currently occupying. My bus stop was right outside the parliament buildings. It’s usually a nice place to visit …

Yeah, don’t get me started.

I need coffee.

Do you know what day it is?

A Belated #JusJoJan the 17th – Joy

As promised, I’m catching up on the #JusJoJan posts. The prompt for this post was brought to you by Just Jot it January in February and Indieshe! Check out Indieshe’s blog here!

I’m generally a joyful person.

I tend to find the silver lining in things.

Or at least the platinum lining.

The nickel lining?

Okay, sometimes it’s plastic. But it’s happy plastic.

I drank some wine the other night. That made me joyful.

Until it made me tired.

It was the last bottle of the batch of 30 I made, like, more than two years ago, before Christmas of 2019.

I used to drink enough wine to make batches of it worthwhile.

But now?

Not so much.

I find not a lot of joy in a bottle. Just sleepiness.

But you see? Wine comes in glass bottles.

Not happy plastic.
