One-Liner Wednesday – I take it back

Dear Jane,

I take it back. Apparently your redundancy was still not good enough for someone.

Love,

An editor who stands corrected.

Photo: A new bag of Janes’ brand frozen chicken nuggets on which is printed “Raw Uncooked Poultry.” The name brand is covered by a sticker which reads “Warning! This product is raw! Failure to cook raw chicken can cause sickness.”

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

Goodnight

In an unprecedented move, I’m turning off the computer for a full thirteen and a half hours, starting now.

I’m going to relax. Maybe read a book. Imagine that!

Have a good night, friends. Catch you tomorrow!

#SoCS – Heart and soul

Every day I do it.

Put my heart and soul into my work.

And still, I don’t feel like I do enough.

Because if it takes me an hour to write a good sentence,

or twenty minutes to edit one,

I haven’t the product–I haven’t been productive.

Writing is a skill

or I should say writing well is a skill–writing poetically is a skill

unlike building a wall of brick and mortar.

Because unlike the repetitive nature of building a wall,

no two sentences are quite alike.

No two stories are alike.

They each have their fingerprint,

the fingerprint of the author.

The soul of the author.

The experiences that make the author who he or she is.

So just because I don’t bang out a story in a few weeks,

doesn’t mean I’m not working.

Perhaps it just means my heart and soul

are unready to let it go.

March Break 2019 – Day 5

Friday, March 15, 11:24pm

Were you worried?

It’s okay. I’m still alive.

The offspring posed many challenges today.

Least of them was his refusal to wear a coat.

Such is the life of a Canadian mother. Though I had to hand it to him: it was above freezing.

Meanwhile, the dog was under the weather.

Perhaps both of them were attempting to wring sympathy from me.

… or perhaps not.

Either way, I won.

I survived March Break 2019.

*does happy dance*

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 16/19

Friday, Friday, it’s finally Friday, and time for your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt! All is quiet here for the moment–will update later. In the meantime, here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “soul/sole.” Use one, use both, use ’em any way you like. Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link it here to this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s here in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome Stream of Consciousness post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our pretty SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

March Break 2019 – Day 4

Thursday, March 14, 7:13pm

The offspring is attempting to pry me away from the computer to do housework.

But he’ll only do it until I join in, and then he’ll stop.

He thinks he can get one over on me, but I’m smarter than him.

I’ll not be tricked!

One more day to go.

March Break 2019 – Day 3

Wednesday, March 13, 8:45pm

For once in his life, the offspring didn’t want photographic evidence of what he was up to.

Here he is, dodging the camera at the library.

Meanwhile, the dog is still up to no good.

I think the two of them may be planning a coup.

More tomorrow, if I’m still around.
