#SoCS – Optimism

I’m an optimistic kind of gal. I always have been. The type who prefers to look on the bright side, no matter what life throws at me.

So what’s the point of this post?

I have no idea.

And that’s a good thing, right?

Because the world is my oyster.

And the page is, well, blank unless I can find something to write on it.

Which I will! Because I’m optimistic.

Do you have any idea how much stuff I didn’t get done this year?

I didn’t have a badge contest on my blog this year. Can I do it for both SoCS and One-Liner Wednesday before the year is finished?

Sure I can!

Can I still find a way to run Just Jot it January 2021, even though I’m overwhelmed with life?

Of course I can!

Because I’m not only optimistic …

I’m an optimistic glutton for punishment!!

Watch for updates. 😀

One-Liner Wednesday – Rorschach Test

At first, I saw this sunlight through the leaves on my wall and thought, isn’t that nice. A heart.

But the more I look at it, the more I think it’s actually a set of fake vampire teeth giving me the finger.

What do you think?

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

#SoCS – Independence

The last thing I put in my fridge: my son’s heart medication.

Since he turned twenty, Alex has decided he wants to be more independent. Which, of course, makes sense for a twenty-year-old.

He’s been washing my dishes, and he’s kinda getting good at it. I only have to re-wash half of them. He’s been getting his own tube feeds ready, and he’s even been making my coffee at night so I can just come downstairs and turn it on in the morning. It’s quite lovely, actually.

But he also wants to draw his own meds up into the syringes, and I won’t let him. Which makes him disappointed.

Because the fact is, he has not much aptitude for measurements. I watched him make my coffee tonight, insisted on being there, and sure enough, he lost count on his way to four scoops. He insisted that since he lost count, he should start again–without taking out what he’d already put in. I might have ended up with coffee I could stand my spoon up in.

Do I trust he’ll do the same with his heart medication? Absolutely. His independence is an overdose waiting to happen.

So if I come back online one of these mornings with my hair standing on end, it might just be the supercharged java.

Seriously thinking about getting a safe for my fridge, though. To put his heart meds in.

One-Liner Wednesday – Torture (without pain)

Last week I walked around the block with Alex, half of it with a leaf stuck to my shoe. He wanted me to take it off–he insisted I take it off–he needed me to take it off, but I told him I wanted to keep it until I got home. It was my autumn decoration.

What is life if you can’t torture your kids?

#SoCS – Rings a bell

The trick to remembering stuff is journaling. At least in my experience. Often I’ll do something or something will happen and I think, that rings a bell. I’m glad I have my blog for most of that.

Speaking of my blog, I haven’t been around much. To be honest, for the last couple of weeks it has hurt too much to do any extra typing. So I’ve had to finally live up to a sad fact.

I’m human.

And sometimes I just have to take care of myself.

So I’ve missed the last two weeks of my own prompts. I did manage to get the words in from those two weeks into this post already. Did you notice?

Everything is just a little overwhelming at the moment. No one thing is pushing me over the edge, just a lot of little things are pushing me over the edge.

Imagine an army of tiny mice shoving me towards a cliff.

That’s me.

And tiny mice.

So the cortisone shot went well. My shoulder’s not perfect, and I still can’t sleep, but it’s better.

Maybe the mice are keeping me awake.

Yeah, I need sleep.

One-Liner Wednesday – The Brain

The human brain is amazing: I’ve gone from “coffee hurts because it gives me heartburn” to “heartburn is comforting because it means I have my coffee.”

Also, it’s fall! And I went for a walk down by the waterfront today.

One-Liner Wednesday – It’s Cortisone-Shot Day!

Here’s hoping I don’t wake up after five hours of sleep feeling like my arm is in a meat grinder tomorrow!

A Halloween image for you, to remove the image of an arm in a meat-grinder from your brain:

Click for details. No, it’s not my house.

#SoCS – Medicine

Ain’t no medicine taking away the pain tonight. Strangely, most of the pain is in my arm rather than my frozen shoulder at the moment. I dunno.

I went to the hospital tonight for my weird-assed 9pm on a Saturday appointment to get an x-ray. I had to go through the emergency department to get there. There was one person in the waiting room. At 9pm on a Saturday, in the only hospital in a city of 50,000 people. Apparently that person and me were the only ones not having fun tonight.

The good news is I got in and out of there so fast, I didn’t have to pay for parking. My car was in the lot for 18 minutes–2 minutes short of having to pay $4. Woohoo!

Man, I know how to live it up.

So I’m going to keep this short because my arm is killing me.

Have a good one, my friends.

One-Liner Wednesday – Pro tip for the grocery store

First thing to do after you sanitize your hands: go straight to the produce bags and open as many of those suckers as you need while your fingers are still damp.
