K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge – Woodlands

I took this picture last year.

I love it, but I felt like it needed something extra done with it. My camera washed the scene out; while it looks hazily romantic, it’s not clear enough to see what was there.

Here’s what I came up with: first, I darkened it to make it look closer to the actual scene.

Then, just for fun, I took the colour out of it.

unsatur

I like the way the swans pop out of the picture in this last one.

Which do you prefer?

For this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge,  the prompt was “Into the woods”, giving you a pretty broad theme of trees, woodlands, forests, leaves, anything arboreal in fact. You can find it by clicking

Anyone who would like to participate, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do,
you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a ping back, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a ping back from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

Cosmic Photo Challenge – Hot Beach

This picture was taken at sunset on a dull, rainy night at Jolly Beach, Antigua, January 23, 2013.

Reality

Reality

By first lightening the photo, and then enhancing the reds and blues, and decreasing the greens, I ended up with a much more stunning sunset than I saw in reality.

One-Liner Wednesday – Quite the Impression

It seems the cat has made an impression on the dog.

Do you see it?

How about now?

I noticed the silhouette of the cat’s head on the dog’s side two days ago, while they were having a nap together.

One-Liner Wednesday – Good News!

I can write a novel on the fridge now!

I got new letters! 2 packs of 72 each at Toys R Us in the US! I can write a whole novel on the fridge now!!

Well, as long as the whole thing is punctuated with exclamation marks (aka upside-down “i”s).

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge 3 (A First for Me)

Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan December, 2014

Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan December, 2014

I took this picture at sunrise from my hotel room. The original was far more faded; I brought up the saturation to make the colour of the sun in the reflection of the windows pop. I only wish I had been able to get a clearer shot. You can see how long the shutter was open by observing the lights of the cars going by on the highway.

The three, in this case, (because the theme today is “three”) are the two buildings and the cars. Yes, a bit of a stretch, but it’s the best I could do in a pinch.

P.S. If anyone knows of any good (and cheap or free) programs for altering photos, I’d love to know. Thanks!

One-Liner Wednesday – Some conversations go downhill faster

A conversation between myself and one of my kids (unnamed to protect his future employment prospects … his future anything prospects).

Son: Is it okay to give a dog undercooked meat?

Me: Traditionally, dogs don’t cook what they kill over a cab fire… I mean a camp fire.

Son: Cab fire?

Me: I know.

Son: Hey! I’m not pulling over for that dog!

Me: Shut up.

Son: That dog’s got raw meat!

One-Liner Wednesday – Much Ado

I complain, when my youngest son, Alex, is here that I’m not able to sit down for five minutes without having to get up for something he needs or wants, but since he left for his dad’s on Friday I’m finding myself sitting for too long, so, at odds with myself, and unable come up with a One-Liner Wednesday for this week I began pacing the floor between the kitchen, and the living room and, with the puppy looking on suspiciously, came up with this long-assed run-on sentence that’s really going nowhere.

I’m reduced to acronyms!

Warning: exclamation marks and acronyms ahead. I’ve been holding this rant in for a while.

I don’t understand why or how it can be so difficult to get magnetic letters for my fridge. They’re the kind of thing you just take for granted, aren’t they? They’ve been around forever. They’re everywhere. Right?

Except they’re not! Toys ‘r’ Us has none for sale in store nor online, and haven’t since Christmas. I can’t find ones to match mine anywhere on Amazon, and the only ones I have been able to find are at Indigo Books, online, for a whopping price of $24.99. Yes, you read that right. Twenty five bucks for 40 pieces of cheap molded plastic with cheap little magnets glued to them!

It’s highway robbery! And this is what I’m reduced to!!

CAM01369WTF?!
