Hillā€˜s ā€œThe Flame of Lick’s Island,ā€ Marissa and Mike move to an island and solve a dark mystery that threatens to combust their relationship.

lindaHow long have you been writing?

I wrote my first ā€œbookā€ when I was about 5 years old. I remember asking my parents to staple some pages together so I could fill them with words. Unfortunately, I couldn’t spell… As much as my parents encouraged me to just draw my story, I was adamant I needed to write it. I attribute the fact that I can’t even draw a believable stick figure to this day to my early writing attempts.

193. Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right

Phil (and Fiona)

 

Phil sits at the window. Fiona takes the seat beside him.

Fiona: Where’s your car?

Phil: I beg your pardon?

Fiona: Your car. Ain’t you the guy I seen who’s gettin’ a car?

Phil: (snorts) Right. You told me you got into an accident. Probably jinxed me.

Fiona: Did you get into ‘n accident too?

Phil: Yeah. Smashed up my car AND my arm. (points to left arm in a sling) I’m just waiting for the insurance company to settle.

Fiona: You’re not gettin’ another car, are ya?

Phil: I plan to.

Fiona: (turns away and mumbles) Thats men for ya. Crazy shit for brains.
