Life in progress

Well this should be interesting.

First off, what the hell is going on with WordPress today? I woke up and this blog’s “best ever” day has gone up by nine views, and my fiction blog’s has gone down by four. Has this happened to anyone else or are they just screwing with me?

Second, I really am going to finish replying to all my comments soon. Tomorrow, if all goes well. But when does it ever? Can anyone answer me this question?

Third, I need another glass of wine.

Fourth, … oh yeah! Another WTF WordPress. I scheduled my 63rd Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right post for 11am this morning but it went live at 10. Did WordPress not get the memo that the time changed last night? Was it only Canada that changed? I’m confuddled.

Fifth, what do I do with all these Hallowe’en candies?

Sixth, if anyone can answer the above questions to my satisfaction and (as always) with humour, you get a point. Extra points if you send me a bottle of wine.

  1. Confuddled is my new favorite word. πŸ™‚

  2. Yay for wine!!!!!!!!!

  3. You’re hilarious – love the post ❀ I too drank your wine for you!

  4. I tried to send you a virtual bottle wine but it didn’t work so I drank it for you.

  5. Ah, now I would happily bung jereboams of the old alcoholic and vinous your way, Linda! Consider it done in the virtual sense. As for bl***y WordPress – well, I become increasingly convinced that it is possessed – probably by a demised Viking of uncertain personal habits and honking like a dead skunk -and that the only way of dealing with the constant glitches, pauses, Waiting for Godot moments and other stress-inducing boll***s is the swift application of Bell, Book and Candle! My hits drop like a cascade of panties with weak elastic; there seems to be no correlation between arrivals and views; some days, I appear only to get one visitor – who, miraculously, manages to find Talking Dirty fifty times – and my search terms are beyond belief! I am finding it harder and harder to get any movement on the blog at all. REALLY FRUSTRATING, the whole thing! Ali

    • Hahaha! You had me at “drop like a cascade of panties with weak elastic.”
It can be frustrating, can’t it? Enough to drive us to drink… and there we come full-circle.
Keep on keeping on, Ali. It’s sure to come together sooner or later. …right? πŸ˜‰

  6. Well, I just got around to noticing, but my “Best Ever” day not only jumped by 6 views, but the date of my “Best Ever” also changed from October 14 to September 21. In honor of the upcoming mid-term elections in the U.S. on Tuesday, I demand a recount.

    • Ha! The stats on the two dates must have been close, yes?

      • My previous “Best Ever” day, October 14th, showed 407 views. Now it shows 398 views on10/14. The day that is now my “Best Ever” day, September 21, shows 413 views. I don’t remember how many there were before these numbers changed. How can one date from 3 weeks ago lose views and another date from six weeks ago suddenly gain views? Makes no sense. I think someone is stuffing the ballot box.

  7. Another glass of happy wine….and none of the points above should matter πŸ˜‰

  8. Lies, damn lies and statistics, Linda G. What goes up, must come down. Time waits for no one. There’s three cliches. I’m out of relatable ones for your dilemmas …

Let’s drink wine. I could go for some Cabarnet Savignon. And your fancy?

  9. I am lucky enough to have a kid ith a bday right after halloween so goody bags are filled with all their trick or treating candy, and they never even noticed it was given away. hahaha i dont have wine but I will share some of my pear ale with everyone

  10. First and Fourth: I never have a clue WTF is going on with WP… so I can’t really help there.

    Second: never.

Third: I need a first glass of wine so that I can move on to another glass of wine.

Fifth: You can throw them away now, or you can stick them in the pantry or cupboard and leave them there until a year goes by and you then feel better about throwing them out since they’ve been around for a year.

I don’t have a bottle of wine to send you, but I’m more than happy to share this one with you if you want to come here. I’m too lazy to come there…

  11. Did my pepper post on collecting then getting rid of stuff. It was fun. I am not sure about the rest too much of a newbie to really understand all of it!! Enjoy your wine!!

  12. I just wrote my second post for The Peppers and it is about the time change here in California. I did a mini research on Wikipedia and the time changes are really different all over. I am not sure how or if this effects Canada. The wine sounds like a good idea to me. I don’t know about losing stats, that sounds strange. Maybe something leftover from Halloween, oooow! πŸ™‚

    • A few years ago, America changed their DST ending time to November and Canada followed. So I thought all of North America was the same – you just confirmed it. Thanks, Deborah!
The wine tastes even better than it sounds. πŸ˜‰
      WP is weird. πŸ˜›

  13. Yeah it happened to be too! I’m baffled, by best ever went up by 6

  14. Wow – a toast to you with a wine and music – let you have a wonderful week!

  15. Hmm I am desperately waiting for the kids to fall asleep so I can pop open my favorite bottle of red! A toast to you my friend πŸ˜‰
