224. Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right

Thursday, April 12th, 5:00pm
Quinn and Serge

Serge: You up for a game of poker Friday night?

Quinn: No, man. I’m too tired.

Serge: Wife still on your case about painting the kitchen?

Quinn: I wish that’s all it was. Yvonne’s just friggin’ nuts since she’s been pregnant.

Serge: You should come to the game. Be a good way to escape.

Quinn snorts.

Serge: I got some cute honeys coming over.

Quinn: (regards him, thinking) I’ll let you know if I can get away.

Just for fun

Oh universe, how you seem to love throwing challenges at me. Do you do it just for shits and giggles? Or is the purpose of it to “make me stronger,” since nothing has killed me yet?

Alex is sick. And I feel like I might be coming down with whatever he has. This cold (I really hope it’s not the flu–he’s had a shot, I haven’t) came on fast. He spent most of the day laying on the couch and he’s complaining of a very sore throat. The dry air in the house combined with his stuffed up nose likely isn’t helping.

I suppose there’s some good news: I won’t have to get up at 5:30 in the morning to feed him.

I think I’ll go to bed early. Staying up late certainly won’t help me stay healthy.

Cheers with vitamin C, my friends.

223. Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right

Wednesday, April 11th, 5:00pm
Hillary (and Drommen)

Hillary sits at the window. Drommen stops in the aisle beside her.

Hillary: (looking up at him) You gonna sit?

Drommen: Is that an invitation?

Hillary shrugs. Drommen sits.

Drommen: How have you been keeping?

Hillary: Okay I guess. I got hit on by another guy on the bus the other day.

Drommen: Not another flasher, I hope.

Hillary: What do you care?

Drommen: (sighs) I do care about you.

Hillary: So you wanna get together then?

Drommen: Change of heart?

Hillary: (shrugs) You’re better then Sean. He’s an asshole.

Drommen: (pats her knee) Know what? You can find someone better than me too. (moves to get up)

Hillary: (grabs his sleeve) Wait! I didn’t mean it that way.

Drommen: Yes you did. And so do I.

Drommen changes seats.

One-Liner Wednesday – Who are you?

Yesterday, I was informed by my son that The Who is an owl band.

Artwork-Owl saying Who?-by me.

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our very cool badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!

Inspiration is hard to come by

Inspiration can be difficult to find.

Especially at 11:30 at night when you’re trying to get a blog post written.

I was playing around on Paint.

You know, the new 3D Paint program that comes with Windows 10?

I did something for tomorrow’s One-Liner Wednesday,

and then I did something for this post.

I call it,

a self-portrait of my wishful thinking.

I should stick to writing.

222. Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right

Tuesday, April 10th, 5:00pm
Simon (and Jade)

Simon sits at the window. Jade takes the seat beside him.

Simon: You smell nice.

Jade: (smiles) Thank you.

Simon: What’s that you’re wearing?

Jade: Nothing. I don’t wear perfume.

Simon: No, I meant your clothes. Are they edible?

Jade stares at him.

Simon: Or are they like the peeeeel on a banana?

Jade changes seats.

221. Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right

Monday, April 9th, 5:00pm
Ethyl and Betty (and Yuka and Asako)

Ethyl: You see those tarts over there?

Betty: (stage whispers) Mom, they can hear you.

Ethyl: That doesn’t matter; they don’t understand me.

Betty: (stage whispers) Just because they’re from a different country doesn’t mean they don’t speak English.

Ethyl: Pfft. Listen to ’em! They’re speaking some Arab language. Couple of sluts.

Betty: (stage whispers) MOM!

Yuka and Asako stand.

Yuka: (to Ethyl as she passes on the way to the door) You’re a very rude lady.

Ethyl: Hey! You can’t talk to me like that!

Betty: (as Yuka and Asako disembark) Well, you weren’t very nice to them.

Ethyl: She called me rude in English! At least I didn’t call them sluts in their language!

Holy Shamoly, It’s About Time!

Finally! Green tea KitKat has made it to Canada!

I had to buy two one just to give it a try. You know, to make sure they taste the same as the heavenly ones I bought in Japan.

Aaaand, they’re different. Not as sweet, and heavier on the green tea flavour. At least I think they are.

Of course, the only way to be sure is to go back to Japan …

Good Riddance

Yes, I’m posting my illegal A to Z Challenge “G” post a day late, and on Sunday, which is supposed to be a day off. If this were baseball, it would either be a triple play or a strike out. Since it’s all contraband posting, my guess is a strike out. But I’m doing it anyway, so that’s four strikes. I’m definitely going to blogger hell.

Anyway, I’d better make this good.

My first online deed this morning was to post something like this on Facebook (“something” meaning I wish I’d made it pretty):

Text reads: Fun game: 1. Make a list of all the things you don’t have time to do in a day. 2. Open the stopwatch on your phone and start it every time you go on Facebook. START NOW

My following Facebook post was something to the effect of “I’m leaving Facebook for a week. Just so you know I’m not ignoring you. Cheers!”

In other words, I’m skipping the “Fun game” and going straight for the stuff I don’t have time for. Feel free to share.

And good riddance, Facebook!

220. Scenes from the Second Seat on the Right

Sunday, April 8th, 9:00am
Minerva and Dillon

Dillon: Can Carl come over and play tonight?

Minerva: No, your dad’s coming home tonight.

Dillon: Don’t call him my dad.

Minerva: You know what I mean. He’s been away for a week, and he’s gonna want quiet.

Dillon: You mean he wants to get drunk.

Minerva: Dillon …

Dillon: And then he’s gonna–

Minerva: Dillon!

Dillon: Never mind. Can I go over to Carl’s?

Minerva: I’ll call his mom when we get home.
